The IOP hosts Chicago Treks in partnership with the Harris Center for Effective Government. Each trek offers 20 students the chance to dive into a political issue area through meeting with a broad range of public service practitioners. Participants will explore: Who are the major stakeholders for immigrant activism, advocacy & reform? How does the ongoing national climate surrounding immigration affect specific needs and concerns at the local level?
Speakers include IOP Prtizker Fellow & Former Congressman Luis Gutierrez, and site visits to the Illinois Coalition of Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and the Resurrection Project.
