Representative Peter Meijer of Michigan – one of a handful of Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump – and Representative Jake Auchincloss, a first term Democrat from Massachusetts, discuss their careers in public service, from the military to Capitol Hill. In a conversation with moderator Kayla Williams, a former assistant secretary of the V.A., they will discuss how they have found common ground and fissures through that shared lens. Rep. Auchincloss commanded a Marine infantry unit in Afghanistan and remains a major in the Reserves. Rep. Meijer was deployed to Iraq as a non-commissioned officer conducting intelligence operations and spent extensive time in Afghanistan as a conflict analyst before he was elected.
