Description

France, as one of the world’s largest economies, a P5 member at the UN, and a key member of the EU and NATO, plays a vital role in global affairs. France in recent years has sought to diplomatically resolve the Russo-Ukrainian conflict and has, with the EU, imposed sanctions on Russia. It also, however, faces key challenges, both in the international arena, as in the case of AUKUS, or in the domestic arena, as in the case of the recent protests over pension reform which have engulfed the country.

Join the student-led International Policy Program as we host Christopher Weissberg, the French Member of Parliament for the First Constituency for French residents overseas, for a discussion centered on France and Europe’s perspectives on sanctions against Russia, the state of Franco-American relations, and the current political situation in France.

Mr. Weissberg will be joining us in-person at the IOP living room. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be provided.
