Spring Break at the IOP (Day 2)



 

Over the course of two days, the IOP's Career Development team will host panels on how to set yourself up for careers in politics and public service. Day 2 (Tuesday, March 23) panels will be focused on getting hired in the following Chicago-focused sectors: Advocacy, Local Government, and Civic Tech. Please come with any questions you may have for our guests about how to break into these fields. A food delivery credit will be sent to students who register for and attend all three panels on one or both days. 

Getting Hired in Advocacy - 8-9 a.m. CST
Panelists: Katelyn Johnson, Executive Director at BlackRoots Alliance
                  Amy Korte, Vice President of Policy at Illinois Policy Institute
                  Julian Posada, President & CEO of LiftUp Enterprises 

Getting Hired in Local Government - 9:30-10:30 a.m. CST
Panelists: Mara Heneghan, Director of Policy at Cook County Office of the President
                  Sessy Nyman, Director of Grants Administration at Illinois Department of Human Services

                    
Getting Hired in Civic Tech- 11 a.m.-12 p.m. CST
Panelists: Leslie Jones-Dove (SB '19), Chief Technology Officer, JusticeText
                  Leah Soffer (MPP '20), Director of Growth Operations and Platform Success at SpeakEasy Political
