Pritzker Fellow Laura Dove on "Advise & Consent"

(Current UChicago Students Only)

Tuesday, November 15

12:30-1:45 PM

The Senate’s role in confirming Presidential appointments has been a flashpoint in recent years, with high-stakes battles over Supreme Court vacancies and endless backlogs for executive appointments, ambassadors and others subject to the grueling and opaque confirmation process. How does the process work, and how does the Senate’s relationship with the White House function (or not)?

Special Guest: Mary Elizabeth Taylor, Vice President, Head of External Affairs at Robinhood, former Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs, and former Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs under President Trump

Pritzker Fellows seminars are off the record and open to current UChicago students only. Seating in the IOP Living Room is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This convening is open to current UChicago students who are compliant with UChicago vaccination requirements and, because of ongoing health risks, particularly to the unvaccinated, participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional.
