Description
Beyond the Headlines: Nigeria's Politics, Partnerships, and Regional Future
In the past year, Nigeria took center stage when the Trump administration ordered Christmas Day airstrikes against Boko Haram, a jihadist organization in the north of the country. Concerns of “Christian genocide” revealed existing religious tensions and prompted further discussion of violence and politics in Nigeria, as well as Nigeria's role in geopolitics. What changes are occurring in Nigeria? How will Nigeria envision its own role in the world order? And what does the partnership between Nigeria and other nations look like?
Joining the student-led International Policy Program for a conversation about Nigeria are: Dr. James Robinson,Nobel Prize Laureate and Professor at the Harris School of Public Policy and the Department of Political Science at the University of Chicago; and Mr. Ben Figo Ezeamalu, the Nigeria chief correspondent for Reuters.
