12:30 pm - 1:45 pm
IOP Living Room, 5707 S Woodlawn Ave, Chicago, IL 60637
Join IOP Practitioner in Residence Greg Hart (Booth ‘21), Village President of Hinsdale in the Chicago suburbs, to explore how officials at the local level navigate communications in a crisis. Greg will be joined by Ben Bradley, an investigative reporter at WGN, to discuss what happens when national controversies hit local media outlets, and how media coverage and leaders' responses might differ in a hometown crisis. Drawing upon his experience as Village President of Hinsdale and serving on the DuPage County Board, Greg will discuss how municipalities and counties navigate public pressure, misinformation, polarized constituencies, and press dynamics in real time.
Career Development and Practitioner in Residence workshops are off the record and open to current UChicago students only. Seating in the IOP Living Room is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
