Description

Is the populist project worthwhile, and has President Trump fulfilled his promise as its avatar? Hear Richard Hanania, a former right-wing figure, Trump enthusiast, project 2025 contributor and think tank founder who now disavows his former views and the president, in conversation across difference with John Carney, the head of Finance and Economic news for Breitbart News – a pro Trump media organization – who views Trump as the heir to conservative populism he supports. Moderated by Tom Ginsburg, Leo Spitz Distinguished Service Professor of International Law, Professor of Political Science and Faculty Director of the Malyi Center for the Study of Institutional and Legal Integrity and the Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression at the University of Chicago.

Co-presented with the Chicago Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression. Lead support for the Chicago Forum’s Zell Speaker and Event Series comes from the Zell Family Foundation.
