Description

*Students only!

As long-standing cross-Atlantic allies, the United States and Norway have collaborated over a wide array of foreign policy challenges, ranging from climate change to European security to Arctic policy. More recently, with the growing security threats posed by the war in Ukraine, Norway has emerged as a leader in European and Arctic security policy, critical minerals policy, and a green transition – functioning as a critical partner in the fight for European and global security. But as new challenges emerge in Europe and the Arctic, especially following a consequential presidential election in the United States, the Norway-US partnership has and continues to evolve. How will Norway-US relations develop to respond to pressing security, economic, and environmental policy questions? How will Norway and the United States continue to exemplify global leadership?

Joining the student-led International Policy Program to highlight the long-standing history between Norway and the United States and where it goes next is Norwegian Ambassador Anniken Huitfeldt. Ambassador Anniken Huitfeldt is the Ambassador of Norway to the United States at the Embassy of Norway in Washington D.C. Previously, she served as the Special Advisor and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Norway Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has also served as the Minister of Labor and Welfare, the Minister of Culture and Sport, and the Minister of Children and Social Inclusion.

The event will be in-person in the IOP Student Workroom, with Ambassador Huitfeldt joining us in-person, on November 15th, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The event will be off-the-record and for students only. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian breakfast options will be provided.
