Description

In a controversial runoff election on April 4, 2023, Brandon Johnson was elected to serve as the 57th mayor of Chicago. His mayorship has been no less controversial. Featuring Heather Cherone (WTTW News) and Gregory Pratt (Chicago Tribune), this speaker panel presented by Chicago Style will discuss Johnson’s tenure as mayor and his political future in the city. In office, Johnson has faced significant issues with union workers, supported Venezuelan migrants, and stood up to major oil and gas companies. How have these issues, and other hallmarks of his mayorship, influenced the public’s perception of Johnson? Is the city better off now than it was before he was elected? Is any of this what we expected? Heather Cherone, a Chicago and Illinois politics reporter, and Gregory Pratt, an investigative reporter, will explore Johnson’s impact on the city and the current outlook of his political career. Join us for an engaging conversation at the IOP. Lunch served.
