Description

India is the most populous country in the world, the fifth largest economy, and a rising global power. It is also headed to the polls this year in the world’s largest democratic election that will decide its leadership for the next five years. Under the premiership of Prime Minister Modi, who is fighting for a third term in office, India has sought to position itself as a regional hegemon and has tried to navigate close ties with both the United States and Russia while also dealing with simmering tensions with its neighbors Pakistan and China. To learn more about this dynamic nation and its place in the world, as well as the opportunities and challenges that await it in the years to come, we are joined by Milan Vaishnav of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace for an event on "India in the 21st century: Policy, Progress, and Prospects."

Dr. Vaishnav will be joining us virtually at the IOP Living Room on May 15th, 2024 at 12:00 PM CT. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be provided.
